Our History

The journey of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fair Trade Society began in 2022, when Helen Ni, the founder, became deeply concerned with the preservation of intangible cultural heritage and the challenges faced by artisans from diverse ethnic communities worldwide. Driven by a passion for safeguarding cultural traditions and ensuring fair compensation for cultural practitioners, Helen started to explore how fair trade could help bridge the gap between these artisans and the global market.

In 2023, Helen took action by initiating several projects and activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of preserving non-material cultural heritage. These initiatives connected artisans with fair trade opportunities, provided platforms for showcasing their work, and built stronger networks for cultural exchange.

By 2024, the vision had grown into something larger — a global movement. Helen formally established the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fair Trade Society, creating an organization dedicated to the sustainable preservation of cultural heritage and the empowerment of artisans through fair trade. Since then, the society has worked tirelessly to connect artisans from all over the world with the resources they need to thrive, ensuring that cultural heritage is not only preserved but also celebrated globally.
